Finished the letterpress printing filmstrip! =)
It's hosted by Philip Cheaney at the Independent Publishing Resource Center (IPRC) and features music by Fugazi (I actually got to talk to Ian MacKaye on the phone to get permission!!), imadethismistake and Geoff Shilling.
This is the second installment in the Fall of Autumn Filmstrip series on various printing techniques. The first installment covered offset printing and can be found here.
Enjoy!

You could easily do about 3 more films just focusing on different aspects of letterpress. Woodcuts, lino cuts, and monoprints would be cool additions to lead type. That's a great introduction though. One day when I finally get my ass to Portland, I'll check out the IPRC. I've heard nothing but good things about it. I would like to see you film someone working on a Vandercook proof press as an additional letterpress installment though. Perhaps someone setting up and printing a rock poster with wood type? Whenever I teach I try to describe how letterpress works and kids usually look at me like I'm crazy describing how the Vandercook prints. I could use an excellent video teaching tool. Old slides of me standing at one just don't cut it.
What's the next printing process? If you want to cover etching, let me know.
