Dan, please tell me that last email you guys sent out was a joke. =(
SAY IT AIN'T SO
Dan, you got to do what you've got to do, and I will support you in whatever it is.
But for now, all I can say is:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
gasp
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is absolutely, totally, fucking shitty and depressing. I can't summon enough expletives right now to express it.
Hopefully this is all a fucking nightmare and we will all wake up in a few minutes.
=[
chilling is not an option. but you can bring us some beer!
i distinctly recall typing that you could bring us beer. did i misspell it?
I cansay that after all the talk of distribution problems etc, that I though it was possibly a matter of time before something like this was to happen. But nevertheless it really sucks. I guess it's kind of like having a loved one with cancer or something, you know that the time is near but it is still extremely hard to accept it when the end finally comes.
Over the years Punk Planet has given me and my friends a great escape from the mainstream media, and the Alternative presses of the world, and given voice to the almost voiceless, not to mention exposing me to some great bands that I never would have heard of if not for Punk Planet.
They have also always given our business a very economical, yet very targeted and receptive group in which to advertise our DIY label.
You guys will sorely be missed. Best of luck to all of you guys, staff, interns, etc.
We at Jailhouse! Records wish you guys the very best in your future endeavours and cannot thank you enough for the support and the insight that you have provided so many people!
When it's all said and done, you guys can at least say,"We accomplished a great thing,DIY'ed it, and made it work" That's more than a whole lot of people can say for themselves.
God knows the amount of people you have influenced, and the amount of lives changed, and minds opened up. All due to print and paper.
Congratulations for a job very well done. P.P Will always be remembered in many a heart.
I know my high school therapist would have called this "magical thinking," but I can't help but feel my wishing punk planet a slow and painful death back around '99 when they dissed my band's CD has something to do with this. Don't worry, though. I'm sure if walk all the way home backwards and touch every street lamp on the way things will be back to normal.
i would gladly bring beers. and a party keg of root beer for all those edge folks (are there edge punk planeteers?)
ADDITION: AND PIE! i would bring you pie!
Kira--
Thanks for the imaginary pie and beer. It is much appreciated. In terms of there being any edge planeteers, I think the magazine broke most of them, me included.
D
I'd be over there with a case of beer and a stack of Hostess pies.
Hey Dan,
Sorry again for the two messages and phone call, I can tell your pretty busy with all the hooplah in regards to the closing. I was wondering: do you think you'd still sell all the old magazines you have in stock for those of us who couldn't have been there in the beginning?
If I was in Chicago, I'd be there with beer and tequilla. Instead, I'm drinking it here in large quantities. It isn't dulling the pain. But I think I misplaced my kid...
I'm so sorry! words are inad- Indulge in a mass PP bender...
If I read all this sadness earlier, I'd ferry you kids all the booze and snacks the trunk of my car would hold. Sad news indeed. I'll be pouring a tallboy on the curb for you tonight.
"Men are born ignorant, not stupid; they are made stupid by education."
You have inspired me and countless others over the last several years. Your work mattered. Hats off to you. I'll miss the thrill I got every couple months when PP showed up in my mail. Best wishes for your future endeavors.
This is profoundly depressing. The Corporations CANNOT win!
So, can we have a big ol' drink-as-you-weep-and-smack-each-other-on-the-back wake for our dearly departed? And can it be in July so I can come too?
... my eyes are crossing.
and i'm sadder than ever.
but i do have to say that i liked the headline:
"punked planet"
so good job, blogger who wrote that.
Finally getting around to looking at the computer for the first time today. Thanks everyone for your heartfelt words. It helps enormously.

More soon here. Sucks.
