battlestar galactica pie

by anne elizabeth moore | 02/20/2007 | in battlestar galactica | pie

22 chocolate creme-filled cookies, crushed
3 tablespoons of unsalted butter
1 quart coffee ice cream, softened
1 quart fudgy chocolate ice cream, softened
2 tablespoons coffee liquor
2 tablespoons brandy (optional)
2 tablespoons instant cofee

Crush 22 chocolate creme-filled cookies partially, then pulverize in food processor until it's fine crumbs. Add 3 tablespoons of melted unsalted butter and mix until it comes together. Press mixture into a 9-inch pie plate (I recommend using a deep dish pie plate).

Mix together the rest of the ingredients, making sure that the instant coffee crystals completely dissolve. Pour the mixture into the pie crust and freeze.

Serve with drizzles of chocolate sauce and whipped cream on the Battlestar Galactica.

Yum!

I TAKE EXCEPTION TO THE "CHEESE" COMMENT

Though after the past two episodes it's hard to completely defend that point.

BTW, this sounds like the best pie ever. We have a new winner. I would like to try this in the near future.

(Edited because I failed to read completely before posting. I would like to reiterate, however, that like these tags, my life has now been organized into "Battlestar Galactica" and "Not Battlestar Galactica". Live is grand.)

I get a buzz from just watching that show. Just wait until Galatica Spring Break '07, Adama does body shots with Kira.

brandy is only optional

because, like, you never know when the fleet's brandy supplies are going to be tainted and the whole crew will have to head over to the Glaxxon-15 cluster to, you know, convert it from protein sludge or whatever. that's not always so easy if you're, like, under a cylon attack.

I think as long as Taigh continues to haunt Gallactica's halls, brandy is not an issue.

Crush the cookies and then pulverize 'em in a blender?

-Eliminate some of the clean up hassle/time wasting and just throw 'em in a blender or food processor and "pulse" them.

I think that, in the spirit of the Cylons, you need to both CRUSH and PULVERIZE.

I mean, they did eliminate 12 planets worth of humans.

oh shit! i forgot the step in the recipe:

Mark a white board with the exact number of remaining slices and do nothing but stare at it the entire time you consume the pie.

Oh, please, does that show even have a minority?!

Plus, if we're talking ingredients here, girlfriend now like 10 cups of alien-looking cocoa butter-flavored coffee with attitude, which has to account for something.

And girl grill need a J-O-B! Apparently on January 30, the family of the lady she KILLED WITH HER LANDROVER filed a lawsuit against girlfriend for $50,000,000 for wrongful death.

So, she NEED this show. She do. And this pie need more Brandy. It do.

So, the CRUSH/PULVERIZE thing is a reference to the show?

*dumbfounded*

Battlestar Galactica cupcakes

But really. To "partially" crush seems a shame. I vote for total cookie destruction.

There is a really subtle ingenuity to this recipe. I was confused by the specific directive to use 22 cookies, and then it dawned on me just how excellent the planning here was. It's a study in space-age efficiency. With 45 cookies in the average package, 22 cookies per pie allows you to make two equal pies *and* have a cookie for a snack. Or for a projectile -- to throw at Cylons.
