that was a lie. if you start hiring celebrities just to serve me coffee, it won't actually convince me to come in and drink it.

I'm sorry, maybe it's the California sun, but I'm confused: Is this news about Battlestar Galactica or is it about NOT Battlestar Galactica?

i sort of want it to live outside the BSG/non-BSG continuum, due to it actually being about stupid bullshit—coffee companies, aged musical celebrities, corporate takeover of culture—but in the end it all comes back to BSG, doesn't it?

Even so, more people visit Starbucks every day than visit record stores so the distribution scheme is pretty solid.
Also, why is anyone shedding tears as if Capitol Records was some bastion of indie ethics? Capitol, Starbucks, Goodyear, whatever...it's all coporate culture so why care?

It was inevitable

I think there is a dark matter/black hole theory in Physics that states that all things that suck will eventually gravitate towards each other. Thus, it was only inevitable that Paul McCartney and Starbucks would team up together. One can only wonder who the next washed up pompous blow-hard rock star will be to sign to the Starbucks label. Odds on favorites are Bob Dylan and Lou Reed (yeah, I just dissed Lou Reed. Please don't embarrass yourself by defending him).
