People have been passing me on the blogger list which is simply not acceptable. So here you go:
What we have here is a conspiracy between the anti and pro drug people to get kids to smoke weed. The message sent by this add says, "hey kids, do you want your pets to talk? Then light up a fatty yo." I guess reverse psychology is the way to go.
I hate the anti-pot anti drug commercials, they're the worst. Worse even than the ones that generalize all drugs as if they're all the same diabolical substance, then generally admonish against them, to the effect of "if you do drugs, bad stuff will happen." What has always angered me about these commercials though, is that they try too hard to sound cool, and it always comes off as disingenuous and slimy. If they really want kids to quit doing drugs, they should state the individual effects of individual drugs in plain English, without exaggerating or generalizing, and without hitting you over the head with an overwrought message. Say:
"A joint contains as much tar as four cigarettes, which would be pretty disturbing if you smoked twenty joints a day, about as dangerous as tobacco if you smoked five joints a day, but if you smoked three joints a week, as I do, it's actually several times less dangerous than a pack a day smoking habit."
