I just saw some commercial for a TV show on the Discovery Channel about radical sciences of the future, like electric flying cars, massive Earth-anchored but outer space-floating solar power harvesters, and bio-med monitoring clothing.
Then I had the depressing thought that NONE of it will come to pass because science is politics' bitch. Before you know it, high school students won't be able to fart into a test tube without a Congressional hearing.
Science is fact, granted it is provisional, but it's the best damn thing we have at determining fact from fiction-- much better than blind belief. Science-fiction is dubbed so because it tells the reader/audience this is not fact. There is a term used to separate "real science" from something that is not science at all, but pretends to be: pseudoscience. Creationism is pseudoscience, it is dogma, it is belief, it is garbage that is not open for debate because god is at the wheel(of the garbage truck that it is). And similar to the idea of a personal omni-god, creationism is full of holes and problems. It is not the job of science to kill god, but the very practice of science has been killing the "god of the gaps" for centuries now. Think of it as "collateral damage." The irony in the the creationist cause is that creationists are helping to bring about god's demise because creationists try to come with novel perversions of the same tired unscientific ideas, and evolutionsts are there to take out the same trash again and again(and bury god deeper). Micro-evolution is a FACT(it's damn near a LAW), macro-evolution is a theroy, and a god-damned good one. Thanks to atheist philosphers like Anthony Flew and Michael Martin theistic philosphers can't seem to keep god alive either.
