why I like this song
My old band, Last In Line (not the popular one), paid our dues at Fireside, playing a bunch of Wednesday-night shows before we finally got one on a Friday night. We played somewhere in the middle, and At the Drive-In headlined.
I think they were on tour for In/Casino/Out and there weren't a lot of people there. None of us had heard of them before this fateful night, but once they started playing, we were all converts. So much energy, volume, and intensity . . . they were amazing.
A few years later, the guitar player and I were watching TV and At the Drive-In were the musical guests on some show. He asked, "Didn't we play with this band, once?"
"Yeah, we did. At Fireside."
"Looks like we zigged when we should've zagged, huh?"
UPDATE:
Now I'm listening to Black Sabbath, because that took forever to type (an Assuck song also came and went).
