A) It’s a bi-monthly magazine dedicated to music, culture, and politics. We’re fiercely independent and dedicated to living outside the mainstream. Punk Planet has been publishing continuously since 1994.

A) Like I said, we’re bi-monthly, which means we come out every two months.

Q) I’d like to get in touch with you. How should I?
A) For mail, just send to us directly: Punk Planet 4229 N. Honore, Chicago IL 60613. If you have a PO Box address for us, that box is now closed. If you want to call, give a ring at 773-248-7172 Fax? You betcha: 773-248-7189

by admin | 07/24/2006 | in FAQ

Q) How long should it take for my subscription to start?
A) Generally subscriptions start 6-8 weeks after placing your order. On occasion it may happen sooner, and it may happen later. If you haven’t gotten a first issue in more than about 12 weeks, you might want to get in touch by email subs[at]punkplanet[dot]com .

Q) I changed my address with the Post Office, why haven’t I received any issues of Punk Planet since I moved?
A) We mail out using bulk mail, which does not forward. You must change your address directly with us by emailing subs[at]punkplanet[dot]com or by filling out this online form. Sorry, but we can’t be responsible for supplying missed issues if you don’t change your address with us.

Q) So how do I submit something?
A) We prefer to receive submissions via e-mail at punkplanet[at]punkplanet[dot]com, although you can also mail the story (on CD and on paper) to Punk Planet, 4229 N. Honore, Chicago IL 60613

Q) When should I check back to see if you’re interested in running my story?
A) You should give us a least two weeks to get back to you. Sometimes we will be able to respond to submissions immediately, and sometimes we are putting an issue out and dont’ have time to look over new submissions. Do e-mail a note about two weeks after you’ve sent in your submission, however, just to be sure we’ve received it.

Reviews

by admin | 07/24/2006 | in FAQ

Q) Where do I send stuff for review?
A) All review materials go to Punk Planet, 4229 N. Honore, Chicago IL 60613.

Q) What sort of stuff do you review?
A) We review independently produced music—both CDs and vinyl—DVDs, books, comics, and zines. We don’t review cassettes. Although independent production can be difficult to trace, we do not review materials that are produced under the auspices of a media conglomerate. This goes for major publishers, major labels, film studios, etc.

Q) Will you review my band?
A) We don’t run show reviews, but we will review CDs, DVDs, books, zines, or comics that your band appears in, plays on, or helps create. As long as you’re independent (defined as not on a major label or one of its affiliates), we make every attempt to include you in our reviews section. That said, we’re not perfect and not everything ends up getting reviewed that is submitted to us. Plus, just because we believe in punk rock and we hold independence close to our hearts, it does not mean that you’re going to get a good review.
