favourite band?

what's your favorite band - the next one that doesn't suck.

None of yours even suit the title "punk"

How about listing to some actual punk bands and not just hyphenated "punk" bands

Mine isn't terribly punk,

Mine isn't terribly punk, but my absolute favorite band would be the Beatles. But since this is a punk messageboard, it's a toss-up between Fugazi and the Dead Kennedys.

I was talking about that to a friend just the other day. Demographically speaking, anything over 20 years old is an oldie. Okay, so we were talking about the Descendants, but yeah. Weird.

Better Than Them

Yes, they are pretty fucking great.
But at the moment my favourite band would be the Backyard Babies. Though I am having a bit of a Good Riddance rennaissance at the moment. And I really like The Draft's new lp.

In response to what others

In response to what others have said:

Neutral Milk Hotel and Fugazi are wonderful. You may also want to check out the Magnetic Fields.

I love Meat Loaf in a completely unironic way.

In response to the original post:

Not a band, but my favorite musician is easily Johnny Cash. I mean, I have a Johnny Cash tattoo for chrissakes.

nah. i still luv PIL

steve wrote:

i lent all my PIL records (well, the 1st 3-"first edition"/"flowers of romance") to my friend adam who was curious after that crummy "greatest hits" that came out recently. actually. i also have "metal box/second edition", "paris au prientemps" and "live in tokyo", but i didnt lend them to him.

as much as i love john lydon, he didnt seem to invent as much of the DIY ethic as Sun Ra did, i mean, johnny was ripped off fashion wise by mclaren/westwood, but sun ra was releasing his own records since the late 50s or so..... you do the math.

Sun Ra is the old PIL>?

Are we talking just the DIY ethic here or the actual music ?????

... because "Paris au Printemps" (sp?) ... I'm all for Quebec, just can't spell the stuff .... and "First Issue" (they never call it that, but it's there) are just as great as Metal Box .... IMHO ... zone you out either one.
