What are you a snob about

Do you have an area of interest where things must be just-so?

Coffee: Sumatra is the best kind, brewed with at least two tablespoons of coffee to every six ounces of water (most people use less, and pay the price in bland, weak-ass coffee,) half and half and heavy cream work fine, the later more than the former, but under no circumstances, should one ever, ever, use those hideous "flavored" creamers (Carnation, CoffeeMate, et al.) They ruin good coffee by burying the subtler elements in a thick, hazelnut-flavored sludge.

Coffee: although I favor

Coffee: although I favor Ethiopian Harrar I'm with you on the anti-"creamer" tip.

PS
Turkish style coffee is where its at. Unfortunately, I don't always have the time in the morning to cook it.

PPS
I'm I'm making regular coffee I use the french press method.

Food stuff:
I'm definitely a food snob.

Where food's concerned, my deepest loathes are:
Iceberg lettuce
American "cheese"
Any bread that could double as a sponge (ie: wonder bread) I'd much rather have thick, hearty bread...sorta like that brownberry 1 1/2 lb loaf.
Francheise/corporate restaurants (Denny's, IHOP, Applebee's, TGI Fridays etc.)

I am a ....

I'm a snob about womens fashion. Seriously. If I'm talking to some girl and realize I hate her shoes or something I know at that moment I could not date her. I can still be her friends and be nice and all that and would never tell her I hate her shoes (I don't think being mean is good) but I know that we're destined to only be friends.

I'm also a snob about piercings and tattoos. I don't like any of them.

People think I'm a music snob but I'm not. I don't care what people listen to. As long as I don't have to listen to stuff I don't like.

I miss my french press.

I'm using the cone filter until I can find a new one.

Also, about the sponge bread,

I hate the conventional, Wonder type of "white" bread, but I am by no means a whole-grain exclusivist. I've had good non-whole-grain bread plenty of times. There's a Russian deli that has really good fresh-baked white bread with this crispy golden crust that's really terrific.

But I'm with you on iceberg, American cheese, and franchise restaurants. I might also add: canned meats, parmesan in a can and baloney of the Oscar Meyer variety.

Womens fashion: Lately, it seems like I'm seeing a mix of 70's and 80's fashion and I'm damn glad that low-rise pants are lessening in popularity.

Music: I'm in Full agreement with ya Gordon.

ive worked making coffe for maybe 1 year now call me a noob if you like and that i dont know anything well let me tell you i have a full out blown coffee addiction i love coffee and i love trying new coffee drinks from around the world my 5 top best coffees have to be: 1.cuban colada
2.cortadito
3.the real cafe con leche
4.vietnamese style coffee with condenced milk
5.coffee grinds and chocolate chips
here is the explenation for the ones that have no clue what am talking about Number 1 is kind of like a tall expresso but much much more stronger and since they use cuban beans the coffee is not sour shit water its smooth and you only need a little bit of sugar and your set for the day. Number 2 is a shot of expresso and hot milk drink that with a cupcake or a smoke and your in cafeine heaven. Number 3 the real cafe con leche is a latte but from south america here its too god damned strong and 2% milk is from hell. Number 4 Vietnamese style with condensed milk its awsome its strong smooth creamy and sweet as hell one of the best kinds. Finaly number 5 was invented by me and my friends in a drunken night we didnt want to fall sleep so in our drunken minds we decided that it would be a good idea to eat coffee grinds with chocolate chips.

snobbery

There are a few things that I am a horrible snob about, food being the big one. The whole iceberg lettuce and 'american' cheese thing rings true for me, as well as pretty much anything processed. Table manners are also something that gets me. I think its just because I was raised by parents who were a little insane about manners, but if someone has terrible table manners it just grosses me out.
I am actually working on not being such a huge snob in that respect.
The last thing that I am a total snob about is grammar and punctuation, not to mention the improper use of certain words (like the word 'literally')I know that I am not nearly perfect in this respect, but what is with the run-on sentances and atrocious misspellings? I hate being that girl who corrects people, but sometimes it just comes out before I can stop myself from being such an asshole. Some people make me wonder what exactly they teach in english class these days...

Hmm...

Probably writing.

I'm a terrible grammar Nazi. Even though I've been accused of being a terrible editor, I'm such a stickler for grammar it hurts sometimes. Plus, when people write/type how they speak informally with friends, sometimes it's so painful to read I bleed from my eyes.

This makes using the Internet a hate/love sort of thing.

I also am a snob about tattoos and piercings, but, ah, I'm more a quality snob. I cannot stand bad tattoos and I have a serious problem with scalpeled earlobes--seriously, the best way to do it is the slow method. Kids today: always wanting they 1/2" lobes now now now...

I am not entirely sure how

I am not entirely sure how to answer.

There are things in life I prefer,
but they would be easily identified
by the general populace.

And I don't get upset by anyone's personal
choices unless that choice happens to be
standing on an escalator.

fuckin jerks

Hey, you're the jerk, pal, all right? You're the jerk. Escalators are meant for standing on. Why else have an escalator?

I suppose you also flap your arms to help an airplane along and use your feet in your car a la Fred Flintstone.

It's called technology, you freaking Luddite. And it's meant to do the work for us. Use it.

No YOU are the jerk! You and

No YOU are the jerk!

You and all other escalaxors!

Those were invented to move people faster
and so people who are leading lives wouldn't
get stuck behind motherfuckers who need oxygen
and base camps trying to reach the Husky Gap.

Also if you need more than one second to figure
out exactly when to step onto an escalator
you need new shoes or therapy, it isn't a goddamn
train, this decision will not lead to injury I promise.
These people must lose there shit at the luggage
carousel.

That's the kind of pedantry up with which we should not put.

...though it's also the kind of pedantry that indicates to me that the pedant might be someone on with whom I'd like to get it, being all hot for grammar as I am...

See,

I think this is where the line is crossed from snobbishness to pedantry. Although I have to agree with the assertion about writing every goddamn thing like you're sending a text message, sticky caps and overuse of Leet speak. But I'll end a sentence with a proposition whenever I goddamn want to, thank you very much.

See, if you would have only ended that last sentence sans "thank you very much," you could have actually ended your sentence with a preposition, making the entire post deliciously self-referential!

Actually, I'm not as much of a grammar snob as that post would make. me. out. to. be?

Techies are the best snobs

Techies are masters at snobbery, almost like car guys except with more to gripe about.

Intel chips
MSI/some ASUS/AOpen Motherboards
Western Digital Hard Drives
ATI Video Cards
Creative sound cards
SIEMENS Ethernet cards
LINKSYS/Cisco networking products
Palm OS-Sony Clie
Motorola CB's/Wireless Phones
OPT/VZW backbones
IBUYPOWER.com/Newegg
