Who do you believe really began the punkrock revolution? Some say the pistols others say the stooges? what do you think?

R.John, this question is only for the true punk rockers. Your opinion is meaningless. I think the revolution began as a means of redressing grievances about unfair imperialistic taxation schemes by refusing to purchase real estate or maintain gainful employment. In this sense it was a bourgeoise revolution, as opposed to the proletarian revolution historians often portray it as. Eventually this led to stagnation in the markets which fostered a fertile breeding ground for the artistic expression of nihilistic despair. The first punk BAND, though, was definitely The Monks:

In the 1980's the revolution WAS televised as the British punk scene blasted onto American airwaves led by such luminaries of the genre as the Human League, Duran Duran, Simply Red and The Thomson Twins! Punk rock was here to stay!
