myspace death

by kira | 12/02/2007 | in myspace | not awesome

http://stcharlesjournal.stltoday.com/news/sj2tn20071110-1111stc_pokin_1....

This isn't exactly new news. But it's so very upsetting to me. The big debate since this story broke is the St. Charles Journal's decision not to post the name of the family who created the fake account.

Sad. Just sad.

DC-Metro Area, Anyone?

by kira | 08/07/2007 | in DC | maryland | moving | not battlestar galactica

as it turns out i'm packing up and taking leave from the great city of chicago to take a job at the university of maryland. i went there for an interview, but flew in and out in one day only seeing the airport and the office... so for all intensive purpose - i've never been there. i'm looking to live in the maryland side of the metro-area. from what i understand there are some crazy areas in the dc metro area that should be avoided, however i don't know where those areas are exactly. any helpful hints or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Came across this link on my friend's blog...

http://thefader.com/blog/articles/2007/02/13/pillow-hearts

I think it's pretty fantastic! Too bad it doesn't come out until next fall and it's going to likely be on the expensive side...

Paul you should get one donated for the raffle!

Chicago Crime

by kira | 01/08/2007

This may be old news. But I just recently found it. On chicagocrime.org you can type in your address and it shows a map and lists all the police reports from your block. Scary? Not surprising? You be the judge.

The Second City that Never Sleeps: Letters to Santa

by kira | 12/09/2006

One of the many jobs I’ve accumulated in my three months of being a Chicagoan is at Second City. This Tuesday, December 12th there’s a fantastic charity event called “The Second City that Never Sleeps: Letters to Santa.” It’s a 24-hour improv and music event. There are some pretty neat things up for auction too including a private concert for you and your closest friends at your home starring Jeff Tweedy. A pass for the entire 24 hours is only 10 bones and it’s all for charity! So why not make someone’s holidays a little brighter and come enjoy a laugh or two.

Here’s the link with all the juicy details: http://secondcity.com/news.php?id=313
