AKRON, Ohio -- Two Akron police officers have been fired over two separate incidents of unnecessary force.
Mayor Don Plusquellic on Friday discharged Officer Christopher Seiler and Officer James Givens.
Givens, an eight-year veteran, is accused of elbowing a handcuffed motorist in the neck after he taunted the officer following a car chase in February.
Seiler, a six-year veteran, is accused in a March incident at North High School, in which he kicked a handcuffed suspect in the stomach.
Both officers worked in the Patrol Division assigned to the midnight shift.
