Russian Circles tonight at the Double Door, 9pm-ish. And it's free even. I'm going to go if I can keep the crippling depression at bay and actually leave the house.
This one's for you Greg
But I just figured you'd flaked out on the idea. And now I sit here after just getting home from Chicago a half hour ago drowning in snot.
You with your crippling depression and me with my snot...would've been a good time.
If I'm not as sick as I am now, and either you or that pig Josh don't have plans, I would maybe go to tomorrow night's Shellac show at the Hideout.
It sucks though because I'd rather go to this show as I've seen Shellac numerous times.
And it was surprisingly packed to capacity. It was fantastic, but I swear they only played 5 songs. That was a little disappointing. At one point 2 separate people around us said, "When are they going to start singing?" That made my night. There were a lot of Wicker Park yuppies who decided to check it out because it was free. When I went to the bathroom one of them decided to hit on my friend by asking her for some gum and then forced her into some banal conversation about LCD Soundsystem. I successfully cockblocked because the guy looked like a financial analyst and I just couldn't let her misery continue. I wish I could get paid to cockblock - I'm pretty good at it. My college friends didn't call me "birth control" for nothing.
Isn't Shellac sold out for all 6 or so nights? I can't even keep up. I've also seen them multiple times and kind of don't care anymore. There are a couple of art openings that I have plans to attend instead.
