The zine scene is the land of the undead.
It can't be killed.

From a music zine perspective, I think it hurts their business because people can easily find out about any band in a matter of seconds (with sounds) without having to leave their house or wait for the zine to come in the mail.

Other zines, such as perzines, fiction, non-fiction ones strive because that content is harder to find in an online form.

To a certain extent, aren't

To a certain extent, aren't blogs just the new zines? I mean, tons of the photocopied early 90's emo zines were just bad poetry and complaining about feelings and stuff.

There's some truth to your statement, and for the record, I hate half of my poems.

For early 90's zines, I think one of the best ever produced was Avow out of Portland, OR.

I feel as though the internet has expanded upon the idea of zines in general. It has given people more tools as far as accessibility. The ideas can move so much farther and come in contact with so many more people in a very efficient way. I think the internet is a beautiful thing as far as zines are concerned.
