somehow this all reminds me

of that part in The Sheltering Sky where Port Moresby (oh, Bowles, you devil) goes out to find him a Musselman hooker and figures out that it is ultimately more trouble than it is worth. Like, he winds up rolling down a hill. And feeling vaguely undignified.

While I know little about him, I would go so far as to say that he's the nice guy who would push your grandma down the stairs for acting like a bitch, and then apologize profusely, pretending it was accident. And everyone would believe him.
