She's pretty awesome in these clips, and I kind of wish she would've eaten David Russell's head off. At least my fear of her as a child is now justified.
Don't fuck with Lily Tomlin
THAT SHIT WAS EVIL!
Between that shit and All of Me, Lily Tomlin was basically the thing that lived under my bed.
And, actually, regarding the movie, I have to side with the piggy motherfucking pork chop. I think it gets better with each viewing.
I dunno, haven't seen it in a long time. I remember not being able to figure out if it was pretentious pseudo intellectual shit or if it was pretentiously making fun of pseudo intellectual shit. Or possibly pseudo intellectually making fun of pretentious shit. Either way, blah. Except for Marky Mark as the bike riding fireman. He cracks me up. A little.
And I'm not even against pretentious pseudo intellectual shit as a general rule - I thought Waking Life was awesome - I think Huckabees was just poorly done. The entire cast, except for Wahlberg, seemed like they had no idea what was going on. That was probably what they were going for...
Waking Life was horrible! It was like sitting in on a philosophy 101 class on the day final projects were being presented. Ugh.
I liked Huckabees when I saw it but cannot remember a single detail of it now, so I assume it wasn't actually that good.
There were some unbearable moments in Waking Life - scenes that were about how unbearable it is to listen to yourself ask - or even worse, have someone else engage you in conversation about - the "big questions" with an underdeveloped philosophical vocabulary: "how do I know the color blue that I see is the same as the color blue that you see" bullshit. But I thought it was done well. That type of shit does make you want to stick sharp things in your ear holes and that's exactly how the film conveyed it to be. But I thought on the whole it had an uplifting message about the inherit uselessness of philosophizing and the futility of life in general that a lot of movies just don't deliver. And the Tosca Tango Orchestra was perfect.
Oh, and this guy was a pretty promising rabble rouser before the whole 9/11 Truth shit turned him into a real cartoon character.
I thought that the first time I watched it (the "Ants" girl is especially annoying), but there are some pretty great segments. I really love this bit:
'Sides, I can watch it over and over again just for the eye candy aspect of it.
