Giving it some thought, the Appomattox of the board might well have been a point slightly earlier in time, immediately post the three-day party in my basement in DC which ended with Jon, Ty, and Ben laid low respectively by virulent intestinal amoebae, too many Polynesian Pepper Pots, and marriage. Nothing was quite the same around here after that. Everyone felt vaguely sleazy and miserized and hoped that no-one else remembered as much as they did. I think that was right when you showed up.
I can't maintain a coherent thought long enough to sustain a fight with anyone. I wish I could blame it on alcohol and drugs, but I can't. Britain was shaken by a huge earth tremor at 12.56am this morning which was felt by people from Yorkshire to the South Coast.
Thousands of people reported their homes being shaken violently and furniture moving and hundreds more took to the streets for safety and to check for damage.
The epicentre of the tremor, which measured 5.3 on the Richter scale according to the British Geological Survey, was centred on the village of Holton cum Beckering, about 15 miles northeast of Lincoln.
