I saw this movie once on it's short theatrical run in 79. Then I never saw it again until they started playing it on my FIOS movie package last month. I never read the book, but the film has a shit load of great scenes with highly quote-able dialogue. It also features a tightly wound performance from Brad Dourif. His Hazel Motes is one of the most driven characters I have ever seen committed to film. I You Tubed a scene for you to check out, but there are many others that are just as inspired. I understand this was a labor of passion for John Huston (who directed such mega-classics as "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" and "The African Queen"), and he shot this film on a shoestring budget in and around Macon, Georgia. Being re-introduced to this movie after almost 30 years has made this become one of my new favorites. I hope ya'll can or have enjoyed this too.
