man, i like herb alpert unironically

'60s TJB Herb, anyway, and Rise is still a guilty pleasure -- I kept the 8-track on an endless loop somewhere back in the fall of '98, which otherwise was a pretty miserable time. These videos -- at least the first couple of Scopitones -- perfectly convey what I always felt to be the essence of the TJB's Uniquely Happy Sound, which is to say flamboyantly caparisoned jet-setters getting drunk and dancing with big shit-eating grins on their faces. I tried to live my life this way for a while but ultimately it didn't work out, no doubt due to some moral failing of mine. Anyway, I have pretty much run the cream of YouTube here already -- if you are really jonesing you can go over there and punch in 'herb alpert.' I couldn't bring myself to post 'Jump Street.'
