Another hit or miss comp that has some great stuff on it. Cover of J Church and Cringer songs. Lots of filler, but some standout stuff too.
My friends in Walker do a kick-ass (and 13 year old) cover of Petrograd. Nice Radon cover of Open Road, Unitas do A Letter to a Friend/I Can't Be Nice to You that suits their drawling rocker act. Blotto turns a blistering cover of Step Back, one of my favorite Cringer songs, and I think it actually surpasses the original.
Pleasantly surprised by Streetside Prophet and Down in the Dumps.
Another comp where The Queers turn in a decent cover performance. Maybe it's all the minor chords. They don't quite shape the Beach Boy harmonies in this one though.
Some of the less accomplished (re: sloppy) pop punk bands still come off as enjoyable because the source material is so strong and because the originals were never prime examples of hi-fi precision recording.
