Off to Peru Wednesday; back--with my very own alpaca in tow if I get my way--in August.
*ahem* Titicaca. That is all.

Oh my goodness, you will have so much fun.
Photos, please.
that Paddington was originally from Peru.
My brain has become filled with these bits of conversation-stoppers since I had kids.
I use to be an interesting conversationalist. Now all I can talk about is how the balloon that is untied by the mouse slowly floats away on each page of Goodnight Gorilla.
*sigh*
God damn it Nora. I mean have fun.
Peru. That sounds amazing. Naturally every Peruvian city that I've pulled up on weather.com has shown perfect current weather and 10-day forecasts, with most cities dipping into the 40's at night and reaching the 70's during the day ... all reporting ample sunshine.
Even the higher elevations are only in the 20's at night and 60's during the day.
This pisses me off, and makes me want to impulsively spend all the money I have in the bank on a one-way ticket and a huge backpack. And a hat.
FUCK YOU PADDINGTON BEAR.
This Paddington memory also came to me when I saw my first guy-on-the-back-of-a-motorbike wearing a Paddington-type hat. And then I bought a hat just like his, and I look like an adorable badass in its felty-ness.
All of this is true, but be advised: at altitude you get sunburn very, very fast (and altitude sickness is the real deal, and it made me feel constantly pleasantly drunk except also nearly gasping for breath) and in Lima, it is so polluted that it's all sorts of hazed over and is not at all sunny. But it is a mild sort of winter down there. I would certainly advocate visiting the country in the lower season when plane tickets are cheaper; in fact, everything was more expensive than anticipated in this high season.
I'll try for pictures soon.

out now
Awesome! Post pics when you get back, if you can.
Enjoy!
