Once Blog Entries Are Off the Main Page, No One Checks 'Em Anymore for Comments, Right?

I never read any of the blogs, much less comment on them.

so thanks for bringing it up. i usually don't have time to read comments at all after i've posted something—and definitely not after they're nbot listed on the front page. i love comments—i like getting your feedback—but i'd actually prefer to turn them off and run all comments in a sperate discussion thread.

Ditto.

If you go to your profile page (My Account) you'll notice a tab called "Track" on that is a list of every discussion you've participated in--whether it's content you've created (a blog entry, a forum topic, an in-my-headphones song) or it's a content item you've commented on. It even tells you when there's a new comment and links you right to it.

So the "vested interest" need is pretty easily met in two clicks.
