new digs

by steve | 11/25/2007 | in awesomeness

About a week ago, I moved into my new place my new housemate is pretty fucking awesome (hooray for living with fellow non-smokers), and even better yet, as my last few living situations were less than "stellar" I feel comfortable with inviting people over. Additionally, he understands the concept of "my stuff" vs not my stuff- which isn't to say I'm anti-sharing...i'm very pro sharing (unless it's my last bottle of guinness).

List of Kings of Metal
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jump to: navigation, search

After World War I and the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire, the province of Metal came under the control of the United Kingdom. Despite the efforts of the British, the people rebelled and Metal showed itself a hard land to govern. In order to restore order, a dynasty of Hashemite kings was established, beginning with Faisal I who was the son of Hussein bin Ali. As a family originating in the Hejaz, the Hashemite dynasty was foreign to Metal, though they were accepted as Metal's royal family by a plebiscite showing 96% in favour. The Metali monarchy was eventually overthrown by a military revolt in 1958.

a post for nadine

by anne elizabeth moore | 03/03/2007 | in awesomeness | blog reader appreciation project | nadine | not battlestar galactica

so it has recently come to my attention that people read this blog, and although really only people that post here already comment on it, it seems that people outside of that read it anyway. why? i do not know. perhaps they are looking for the latest in pie news.*

therefore in my ongoing attempt to make the supporters of independent culture feel appreciated and valuable, and to encourage them to wrest themselves from the passivity of exclusively consuming culture—not just here on this blog but maybe elsewhere in the world—i am hereby dedicating not only this post, but this entire project, to nadine, a reader of this blog.

Came across this link on my friend's blog...

I think it's pretty fantastic! Too bad it doesn't come out until next fall and it's going to likely be on the expensive side...

Paul you should get one donated for the raffle!

hot (and by that i mean global warming)

by anne elizabeth moore | 01/05/2007 | in awesomeness | corporate | environment | oil

The Union of Concerned Scientists has released a new report detailing ExxonMobile's use of deliberate obfuscation, insider political leverage, absolute lies, and publicity people posing as scientists and journalists—AKA, big tobacco techniques—to throw the existence of global warming into question.
