Scary Witch Movies?

There's SUSPIRIA, I guess, but it is mostly scary because it is incoherent. I finally tracked down CROWHAVEN FARM (1970)(TV) and it was a big let-down, the Lolita elements were the scariest part. It's kind of hard to build witches into a viable threat since they've become a caricature, Frankenstein's monster syndrome. Plus I tend to identify with the witches since I too am persecuted by the squares/roundheads for my alternative religious beliefs and it turns into the same problem where I always identify with the criminals on cop shows; frustration and disappointment and the sense that no matter what I do I will lose.

I doubt the majority of those here will be able to grasp what a goddamn work of tortured genius this is. "Oh it's just a porno" but it is in fact the Anti-porn. John Stagliano aka "Buttman" pretty much single-handedly invented the gonzo genre of modern porn. But he contracted HIV from a Brazillian transsexual in S. America. This film is a primal scream reaction to his situation. It's brilliant. It's as serious a piece of art as "un Chien Andalou" or Cocteau's "Beauty and The Beast". You can have a bunch of snarky dipshit comments as ya usually do, but I am really trying to turn you on to something with gravity and resonance. Here is a review from AVN online from about 10 years ago.

Because I love you folks so I shall herein attempt to set myself up as a tin-pot version of Alex Cox on 'Moviedrome' so that I might share with you cinema that has been swept beneath the carpet by time and the generally poor (or insufficiently poor) taste of the general moviegoing public. Basically what I am envisioning here is the film version of a record blog, except I am setting up shop here instead of on Blogspot because 1) I am lazy and 2) I want to keep access corralled to people whom I 'know' both for ease of use (see #1) and other pertinent considerations. I also presume, probably entirely wrongly, that my taste in film and performance as an MC will meet with more sympathy and appreciation in this elite community than out in the big, cruel world.

Dr Who (Season 3) Appreciation Thread

I know there are other threads about this, but I'm too lazy to look.
I also know only 2-3 people (RJohn? Daisy?) care about this, but I don't care.

I got the DVDs of season 3 and it is friggin' awesome.
I just watched Human Nature/Family of Blood last night and that may rank as one of my favorite episodes of the new series. And I'm guessing the Master is about to pop up real soon. I don't have cable (that is for the leisure class), but I hear s4 is crazy good.
