The Turkish Invasion

Hello everyone--

I am back from the dead. Or California. Or both.

It appears as if there's been a bit of a spambot problem cropping up over the last little bit here. Apologies for that.

The trustworthy and longstanding PP.com-er Ben has offered to step up and take over some moderation duties, since it's really better that folks from within the PP.com community keep the streets clean from trash like this. If anyone else would be interested in sharing these duties, please drop me a line.

Which actually raises a larger issue: I realized that, a few months ago as I was driving along the 101 in a rainstorm and, checking my e-mail, was told by K-Punk that the site was down because a bill hadn't been paid (long, different story), that really you guys have so much more invested in this site than I do. Which is great. It's awesome actually, that a community--a real community--has risen up from this site is really more than I could have imagined. But it's funny: It's really YOUR community, isn't it? I'm a visitor here. Or like a long lost uncle who may show up every now and then, pull an "who's got your nose" and then disappear again for months on end. Which is a little sad, but nowhere near as sad as other things, and so I think it's time to acknowledge it, embrace it, and together devise a plan to move towards something new.

There seems to be a glitch so that I am unable to list 'my website' as being different from 'my podcast.' Whatever I list as 'my website' automatically replaces the URL I list for 'my podcast.' Not that it really matters that much.

in my farkin headphones

still works does not appear on the main page.

i quite liked this function. i find going back to page 1 of the mega-thread every time a bit annoying. the headphones function was fast and amusing.

in fact the only way to directly access it now is from the pp blog entry currently at the bottom of the main page.

other than that you can add to it but you can't see it. makes no sense, bro.

i suggest a link just below 'forums' and above 'reviews' in the left-hand sidebar.

Sitemeter

I just clicked on the Sitemeter icon at the very bottom of the page and discovered some interesting things. Like somebody in Nigeria was on the site recently. Somebody from Troutman, NC is on the site right now. And R.John has been logged on for over 110 minutes. OK, so it isn't that interesting. But the world map is kinda cool.

And since all the text is copyright by Punk Planet, does that mean Sinker now owns all of our stunning repartee?

This sonofabitchin site is trying to Deny me the Access!

Hey Mr. Administrator Man. When I surf on over to the punkplanet.com, I get the Access Denied page instead of the homepage I've grown to know and love. I find this somewhat disturbing. But your sneaky attempts at Denying me are easily surmounted by simply logging in. HA! Are you trying to tell me something? I mean if you don't want me coming around here anymore you can just say so. We'd all be better off I'm sure, I just can't take these mind games.
