Dark Knight

1. I loved it.

2. Midnight showing totally worth feeling like defrosted death at work this morning.

3. Watchmen preview very nearly brought on orgasm.

4. Note to douchebag outside theatre: go back to chatting up other girls by quoting (nationally known, televised) comedians' routines and bumming clove cigarettes and stop touching my earlobes without my permission and positing your guesses as to my sexuality based on the size thereof. You so obviously know nothing about me as either a carpet muncher (your charming term--I prefer "lady-fucker" but hey, you didn't let me define me; you took the liberty, so bully for you) or as a modified individual ("are those, like 1 gauge?" pffft.

Not a very good movie; also, a different, better movie

C and S and I arrived at a new-to-me hole-in-the-wall pub in Cambridge at around 11:30 and began to consume mass quantities. And nachos. When the rains came, we retreated from the patio into the bar and said "well, that settles it" and had another round. By the time we began to be a little sensitive about having outlasted multiple rounds of other patrons, the idea came up to go see the 4:15 of the new Angie Jolie shoot 'em up, Wanted.

This is the kind of movie that, upon seeing previews, prompts my ladyfriend and I to turn to each other and start a low, slowly accelerating chant of "brew and view, Brew and View, BREW and VIEW! BREW AND VIEW!!!" Ah, the Brew and View; another thing to miss about Chicago and wonder why exactly there's nothing like it in Boston (in fairness, the theater near my house serves beer, but it's no B&V). There are certain movies that lend themselves so well to this concept that I want to view them at the Brew and View, even though I wouldn't see them in any other circumstance (in a regular theater, at home, on a plane, at a friend's house...). Summer dreck fares especially well paired with beers, G&Ts, and cheap popcorn swiped off the abandoned table of the couple who are not staying for the second feature.

They're called a "payload-carrying nanotube delivery system"

In recent news, I'm unashamedly anticipating seeing "Iron Man" on Saturday. Maybe it's all the explosions. I do feel that I was wrongfully denied a childhood grooming towards blowing up neighborhood animals with quarter-sticks of dynamite and later on, foreigners, through the scope of a rifle firing explosive depleted uranium rounds.

Or...it could be all the comic books I insist on reading. Corruption, violence, extended adolescence, blah blah blah...the fact that it's basically all rubber science even I could make up and good-looking Californians is secondary, of course. I really, really don't know what it is.

Peliculas

To this day, I have not found a movie frightening enough. Honestly, I've walked away from every horror movie disappointed because no movie has ever "scared" me enough.
I urge you to tell me about a horror movie that I can say has truly scared me.
I've gotten: "Oh, you should check out The Ring, or The Grudge." Those movies have poor special effects, no effective plot, and no dramatical or impressive acting. Simply a diseased chick who does not have the human mental capacity to stand up-right.
We've all seen Linda Blair vomit that toxic waste on that poor holy righteous man, nothing scary about a neck twisting levitation. Ive learned now that, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy", and by that i've also learned that Jack Nicholson was far more demented in Anger Management.

I have been grossly let down

"Subject Two", which I saw metioned favorably in Fangoria and was apparently loved in Sundance last year (didn't know that until I read the DVD cover though), was more than a bit of a letdown. Rented it last night with a friend of mine. However, said friend watched the special features of the rented DVD and told me today they were actually funny and superior to the movie itself.

FUCK THIS SHIT. If you can't trust a magazine that does nothing but babble on and on about how great anything with a bucketful of fake blood thrown in there for good measure to placate the nerds is, then who CAN you trust? I feel like when I found out that pets don't go "to a farm somewhere" when the disappeared, but rather end up in the toilet flushed down with the rest of the piss and shit.
