I am doing this because I don't want to further clutter the main art threads with inane commentary. But I like how Rev. John is the only human character in a universe of capricious fictional beings and his crude yet knowing earthiness makes for comic relief; sort of a Falstaff or Puck figure. I imagine that this in some way parallels his real-life career.

Too Many Draculas, or: Public Domain Supervillain Theatre

Scene: Central Park, NYC, NY, mid-late '70s. Dracula is fighting the X-Men and putting the hurt on them! Desperate, Wolverine pops two of his claws into the shape of The True Cross in a last-ditch effort to ward off the King of Vampires. Dracula laughs, makes a comment to the effect that that old chestnut only works if the wielder really believes, and gives with the shellacking. The apex/nadir of Chris Claremont cheesy/great scripting? Regardless, Dracula's virtual ubiquity is one of the many things I love about thirty-year-old comic books. At one point he was even in the Defenders. I was going to make a snide comment about the Hulk being a charter member of the Defenders but then I remembered that he is also a charter member of the Avengers.

they do these human interest documentaries where they just follow some random person around for no reason. anyway, the last one was about this kid, a lot younger than me -- maybe 18 or 19.

first of all, it turns out he went to the same summer camp that i went to in switzerland, which means he must have been in the same village i was in. then he was showing pictures from a field trip to interlaken, which i also went on with that same summer camp.

finally, they show him doing the dishes in the kitchen of his london flat, which was in the same building that i moved out of a few months ago.
